Getting Started with Options360

You can explore TrdeSmith’s Options360 strategies to help you generate income or hedge with limited downside risk.

Let’s walk through your Options360 strategies.

To access your options strategies, go to the Opportunities tab of the Options page in the top navigation header.

The Strategies subtab displays available options for the following trade strategies: buy calls, buy puts, buy/write covered calls, sell calls, and sell puts, as determined by our proprietary algorithms.

Our algorithms look for liquid options with a low bid-to-ask spread, high volume, and open interest. The Probability of Profit (POP) for our sell strategies must be at least 80%.

The Filters button allows you to refine your results. For example, you can adjust the displayed strategies, include your favorite newsletters or TradeSmith baskets as sources, add individual tickers, and specify the underlying close price and the number of days to expiration.

The default is the "List" view; however, you can switch it to the "Tile" view.

Within the List view, you can also edit the column headers displayed in the Default View by clicking on the white edit pencil, and create a new view by clicking on the drop-down triangle.

Let’s review the "Tile" View.

Each option’s tile card will include the option ticker, the underlying asset ticker, the maximum profit (for sells), the capital required for a margin account and a cash-secured account, and other pertinent information to help you evaluate at trade.

At a glance, the POP is a statistical estimate of the likelihood that a given options trade will be profitable by any amount at expiration. The ROI tells you how much money you can expect to earn over the time frame of the options trade.

Your maximum profit is the premium you receive for selling the option contract. Options360 calculates it as the bid price times the contract size (multiplied by 100 shares).

The assignment cost is the amount it would cost you to buy the shares (if the option were exercised) at the strike price minus the premium you’ve already received.

On each tile card, you will see a liquidity icon. Liquidity in options trading is crucial because it directly impacts your ability to enter and exit trades efficiently and at favorable prices.  For high liquidity, look for the green water drop icon and avoid the red water drop (low liquidity).

You can scroll through the options tile card to review more information on the fair value, the underlying asset, the underlying asset's price forecast at expiration, the top spread (if available), and key statistics.

The Trade Summary link takes you to the Trade Summary page, where you can view the trade details, option tile card, the best- and worst-case scenarios, and your checklist results. The Checklist feature helps you follow a systematic plan before entering a trade.

TradeSmith provides technical indicators and fundamental data to help you decide if the underlying asset is right.

If you want to reduce your cost if you buy options or mitigate and define risk and reduce your buying power if you sell options, a vertical spread may be right for you. If available, the top spread is in each option’s tile card.
