Managing Multiple Positions- Bulk Edit

Published: February 4, 2025.

Last Update: July 21, 2026.

The Bulk Edit allows you to edit multiple positions in a single window by adjusting entry dates, prices, and share size (for manual portfolios), and adding notes and tags.

It is particularly handy for newly synchronized positions with many missing entry dates and entry prices, or for newly synchronized options with missing expiration months or strike prices.

Bulk editing is limited to:

  • Entry dates
  • Entry prices
  • Shares (for manual portfolios only)
  • Notes
  • Tags

To edit multiple positions, take the following steps:

  • Click on the My Portfolios page.
  • Go to the Positions tab.
  • Select the portfolio(s) from the Portfolio drop-down menu.
  • Select the tickers you want to edit by checking the boxes to the left of the ticker.
  • Select "Bulk Edit" from the bottom-left drop-down menu, then click the Confirm button.

After you click the Confirm button, you will see the following Bulk Edit window:

Within the Bulk Edit window, you can adjust your entry dates and prices. The "Get Quote" icon will display the latest close for the selected date; however, you will want to check with your brokerage for your entry price.

You can also adjust your share size when tracking manual positions. Unfortunately, you cannot adjust the share sizes of a synchronized portfolio, as this data is imported from your broker.

Notes help you include brief information on why you are tracking the position, or specific rules or strategies, and Tags allow you to categorize your positions. For example, you can tag positions according to your newsletters, strategies, sectors, or other tags to help you view only positions in a portfolio(s) according to certain tags.

Can you bulk edit closed positions?

Unfortunately, you cannot bulk edit closed positions, and the feature is grayed out. However, you can copy, delete, group, and move closed positions.

If you forgot to include a note or tag, or need to update the entry and exit dates, prices, shares, or commissions, you can click the ticker to open the Positions Card page.

From the Positions Card page, go to the Position Details tab and click the edit pencil icon to make any necessary adjustments.
