Hi, folks! I’m Marina Stroud, your Senior Product Education Specialist.

TradeSmith makes it easy to research new opportunities, and in this guide, I’ll walk you through how to search for a ticker and review what you’ll find on the Asset Details page.

Great, let’s head to the website!

You will start by typing in a company’s name or ticker symbol in the “Search for Ticker” feature in the upper right-hand corner.

I will search for Apple (APPL) and select it from the drop-down menu.

The site will route you to the Asset Details page, where you can review your ticker.

At the top left, you will see the stock’s latest price and daily gains or losses with the date and time stamp of the last update.

Below, you can choose to view our indicator readings for a long or short position. For our lesson, I will keep it to buying long. There is also an “Adjust for Dividends” toggle feature. Should you adjust for dividends or not?

To learn more, click here.

If there are any upcoming earnings, those will be displayed in this light blue message bubble.

At the top right, you will see your statistic pills carousel, which you can edit with the information you want to see for any security you are researching.

Below, you have the ability to add this ticker to a Basket (watchlist), portfolio, or review additional action items from the “More Actions” menu.

Here you can access the ticker’s Trade Summary page, which lets you view your checklists to determine if the asset meets your trade entry criteria. You can also determine the number of shares to buy with our Position Size Calculator.

To adjust the statistic pills displayed, click the “Customize Statistics” link from the More Actions menu button, or click the “Customize Statistics” link at the end of the statistic pills carousel:

Please note that TradeStops Basic does not have access to the Health Indicator; however, Basic members can display the security’s Volatility Quotient (VQ).

There are several tabs below to help you research potential trades.

I will give you a quick walkthrough of each tab, starting with the Overview tab.

The Overview tab will highlight the indicators available with your subscription.

  • TradeStops Basic has access to the Volatility Quotient (VQ).
  • TradeStops Plus and Premium have access to the VQ, Long-Term and Short-Term Health Indicators, and Trend.
  • TradeStops Pro and Elite have access to the Volatility Quotient (VQ), Long-Term and Short-Term Health Indicators, Trend, and the Business Quality Score (BQS).

The Business Quality Score considers the company’s growth, payout, profitability, and safety fundamentals and gets a score from 0 to 100, with 100 being the best.

You will also find the security’s price chart, peers, statistics, latest research and news, and company profile.

The Indicators tab provides a more detailed view of your available indicators.

earnings-per-share

The Statistics tab provides the ticker’s general statistics, fundamentals, corporate actions, and an earnings-per-share graph. At the top left, you can toggle between the Table and Comparison tabs.

The Comparison tab compares the security’s general statistics with its history and the S&P 500. You can also review the Earnings per Share, Earnings & Revenue, and Annual Dividend Yield graphs.

The Opportunities tab will display any active newsletters or Billionaires who are investing in your ticker.

Please note that you must be a TradeStops Pro or Elite to access the TradeSmith Billionaires Club.

The Financials tab provides fundamentals and SEC filings data. You will see numerous income statements, balance sheets, our earnings and revenue history, debt-to-assets, earnings per share, and cash flow graphs as you scroll down the page.

The Historical Data tab is pretty neat. It displays the one, three, and one-year low and high prices. Below, you can also view the stock’s daily, weekly, or yearly historical prices, and other events.

And finally, the Chart tab displays the price line and allows you to view the Health indicator’s trailing stop, VQ% trailing stop, custom percentage trailing stop loss, and other indicators on the chart.

If you look at the chart, the red line is the Health Indicator exit price. You can hover your mouse over any point on the chart to get more data.

The Yellow Zone indicates the halfway point of being stopped out. The purple icons correspond to the VQ% trailing stop, and the orange icons to the 25% trailing stop.

To open your chart settings, click the Open Chart Settings button on the far left of the chart.

You can toggle chart features on and off and adjust the entry date or 25% trailing stop by clicking the gray edit pencil icons.

If you are a TradeStops Plus, Premium, Pro, or Elite member, you can also change the Long-term Health to the Short-Term Health.

  • The Long-Term Health indicator is designed for investors to hold their securities for 12 months or longer.
  • The Short-Term Health Indicator is designed for investors to hold their securities for 3 months or less.

Alrighty, folks! That’s a wrap on today’s session.
