Ratings Video #3: Your TradeSmith Baskets

Hi folks! Marina Stroud here. I am your Senior Product Education Specialist.  

Today, I’m excited to introduce you to your Basket watchlists, so you can track securities of interest. I will take you on a tour of your baskets page, show you how to create a basket, and walk you through the site’s basket page features.   

Great, let’s head to the website. 

To access your Baskets page, click on Baskets at the top navigational header. Here, you can view your baskets and the TradeSmith templated baskets.  

To create a new basket, click the Add Basket button. You can choose from creating a basket from scratch with the “Add Basket” link, or you can import a CSV spreadsheet of securities into a new basket.

You will start by naming your basket and adding any notes to help you track why you created it. Depending on your strategies, you may have various watchlists.   

For example, I will create a basket and track 10 tickers I may want to track. 

Start by entering the company name or ticker symbol. After entering the first ticker, the second ticker line will automatically populate.

Once you get the hang of it, the process goes quickly. 

At the bottom of the page, you can also add your newsletters as a source to your newly created basket, or you can create a separate basket for your favorite newsletters. 

Once your basket is created, hit the Save button below. 

Your basket will be displayed on the homepage. It will display the number of tickers and your description, if you added one.

f you want to edit your basket name or description, click the blue drop-down triangle to the left of the basket and click the Edit link. You can also delete baskets from this drop-down menu. 

To add more tickers, click your basket’s name. Then hit the Add Ticker & Source link:   

Once your basket is open, you can click the blue drop-down triangle to add/edit notes, copy, move, or delete tickers.  

To delete, move, copy, or bulk edit multiple tickers from your basket, put a green check mark to the far left of each symbol. You will see a menu at the bottom of your screen. You can also edit or delete a basket from the More Actions button menu at the top right of your basket page. 

Now, let’s review the basket site features that allow you to make it your own. 

You can adjust the column headers displayed to view the information most important to you. To edit the Default View, click the white edit pencil icon. You can also create a new view from the drop-down triangle. 

You will see available TradeSmith indicators, general, fundamental, and other performance-based metrics you can track for your watchlist positions.  

The Remove All button clears the view board, allowing you to start over.   

You can even drag and drop the column headers to their preferred locations. To move the columns, left-click and hold your mouse key, and drag and drop it between any two columns. 

If you make any changes, don’t forget to hit the Save button.  

Another way to add to your baskets is from the Asset Details page.   

I will search for another stock to add to our basket. 

If you watched our previous lesson on researching new potential trades, you are familiar with the Search for Ticker feature.   

The Search for Ticker feature routes you to the Asset Details page, where you can research the new ticker. On the upper right of the Asset Details page, click the Add to Basket button. 

You can enter a new basket name or add it to an existing basket. I will add it to our existing basket and click Save.
