What does "Multiple Purchase Lot" mean? If you buy shares of the same position on multiple dates and at different entry prices, this is referred to as Multiple Purchase Lots.

At this time, TradeSmith only allows for one entry date and entry price per position.

SYNCHRONIZED PORTFOLIOS

If you synchronize your accounts, all purchases of the same stock will import as one position. New purchases of the same stock and reinvested dividends will update the number of shares. Your entry date will remain unchanged.

In a synchronized portfolio, you can opt to have the entry price/cost basis updated each time your data is refreshed. This will ensure that we always show the average entry price for all shares you have purchased over time. Please note, however, that this feature is only available for brokers that return the total "Cost Basis" for your positions. We are not able to retrieve this data for all brokers.

To enable this setting:

• Click on the circle at the top right of your program and then select settings.

• Under Positions, scroll down to Entry price and enable  ‘Update entry price with latest Cost Basis’ by setting it to Yes.

 MANUAL PORTFOLIOS

In a Manual Portfolio, you can choose to:

• Track the investments as one position with your original entry date and manually update the shares and the entry price for the position to the average entry price per share.
• Create separate manual entries for each purchase/reinvestment, each with its own entry date and entry price.

If you choose to edit the entry price with an average of the prices paid for the position, you can calculate the average entry price with this formula:

100 shares purchased at $50/share for a total cost of $5000

50 additional shares were purchased at $70/share for a total cost of $3500

($5000 + $3500) / 150 shares = $56.67

This figure represents the average price per share and can be entered into the “Entry Price” field.
