Calculations – Gains

Please note: TradeSmith’s gain calculations may differ slightly from figures you compute manually. Our platform applies rounding and incorporates compounding when annualizing gains, which may produce small variances compared to independently calculated results.

For Long Positions

Annualized Gain

  • If you held the position for less than 365 days, then… Annualized Gain=365*(Gain/Hold Period)
  • If you held the position 365 days or more, then..
    • If gain is < -100, then… Annualized Gain = -100 ((1 – Gain/100)^(365/hold period) – 1))
    • If gain is > -100, then… Annualized Gain = -100 ((1 + Gain/100)^(365/hold period) – 1))
