Published: January 16, 2026.

Gain with Dividends (Dollar)

This represents total profit, including price change and dividends.

Formula: Gain with Div = Current Value − Total Cost Basis + Dividends Received

Gain Without Dividends (Dollar)

Measures pure capital gain or loss.

Formula: Gain ex Div = Current Value − Total Cost Basis

Gain Percentage with Dividends (Total Return %)

Formula: Gain % with Div = Gain with Div / Total Cost Basis

Expanded: Current Value - Total Cost Basis + Dividends / Total Cost Basis

Gain Percentage Without Dividends

Formula: Gain % ex Div = Gain ex Div / Total Cost Basis

Gain Per Share with Dividends

This is effectively the total return per share.

Formula: Gain/Shr w/Div = Gain with Div / Number of Shares

Gain Per Share Excluding Dividends

Formula: Gain/Shr ex Div = Gain ex Div / Number of Shares

Or Equivalently: Current Price per Share - Cost Basis per Share
