Import a Missing Portfolio

If you haven't connected your brokerage account to TradeSmith yet, see Setting Up Sync for the First Time: Step-by-Step before proceeding.

If you have already imported your Broker accounts to TradeSmith, and have since opened a new account at your broker that you would also like to import, you do not need to perform a brand new import.

We have a feature that will bring over any additional broker accounts under your existing connection. To access this feature, you can do the following:

  • From your My Portfolios / Manage page, click the green "Refresh" icon to the left of one of your existing synced portfolios

  • On the following screen, select "Import Missing Portfolios"

  • Your new portfolio(s) will be imported into your TradeSmith account and will update along with your existing portfolios under the same connection.

Please note that if your broker is using "Open Banking" data sharing (Charles Schwab, Fidelity. Vanguard, Edward Jones, Robinhood, Wells Fargo, Merrill Lynch and others) then you will need to first provide consent to share the new accounts with TradeSmith.

To do this, you need to use the "Update Credentials" feature which will redirect you to the broker's website to complete the consent process.

  • From your My Portfolios / Manage page, click the green "Refresh" icon to the left of one of your existing synced portfolios
  • On the following screen, select "Update Credentials"

  • Follow the prompts to login to the broker's website, and provide consent to share your new account with TradeSmith.
  • Then perform the above steps again using the "Import Missing Portfolios" feature to display the new account in TradeSmith.

*Note - The tabs and features you see on your TradeSmith Finance site will vary based on subscription(s) and subscription level(s). The pictures in our Education Center articles are taken from a TradeSmith Platinum account.
