Navellier Edge Portfolio – Frequently Asked Questions
📌 Will Louis Navellier or William provide guidance on positions within the Navellier Edge Portfolio?
This portfolio is fully automated and does not require direct commentary from Louis or William. It follows the signals from two of our most trusted quantitative systems: Louis’ Stock Grader and the Seasonal Edge strategy. Entry and exit points are automatically generated to help you succeed—no analyst input needed.
📌 I’m a Louis Navellier subscriber. Can I use this tool to buy A- and B-graded stocks not in the portfolio?
Yes! As a Trade Cycles subscriber, you can access seasonal profit windows for all tracked stocks.
Even if a stock isn’t in the model portfolio, the seasonal charts can help guide your entry and exit decisions—especially for A- or B-graded stocks. (Note: Optimal seasonal windows are available for stocks with at least 15 years of history.)
📌 How often is the portfolio refreshed?
The Navellier Edge Portfolio updates quarterly.
You’ll receive at least one week of advance notice before new trades begin, and existing open positions remain visible for tracking.
📌 How are stocks selected for the portfolio?
To be added, a stock must:
- Enter a bullish seasonal window (per Seasonal Edge), and
- Hold an A or B grade from Louis’ Stock Grader on the day the window begins.
✅ If both conditions are met, you’ll receive an entry alert before the market opens.
📌 How many trades are open at once?
We typically open around 7 trades per quarter, but some from earlier quarters may still be active.
You’ll always be able to see entry/exit dates for better planning.
📌 Does Navellier Edge use RSI (Relative Strength Index)?
No. RSI is not used.
The system relies on Louis’ proprietary stock grading methodology, which already includes momentum-based indicators.
📌 How will I know when to enter a position?
You’ll get an entry alert via email the morning the seasonal window begins—if the stock has an A or B grade that day.
📌 Can I enter a position later than the official date?
Yes.
While the model only records trades based on official entry dates, you’re welcome to enter when it aligns with your personal strategy.
📌 When are trade alerts sent?
- Entry Alerts:
Sent the morning the seasonal window opens (if the stock qualifies).
If it doesn’t meet grading requirements, you’ll get a cancellation notice. - Exit Alerts:
Sent if: - The seasonal window closes, or
- The stock’s grade drops below B (in which case you'll be notified over the weekend and the exit will happen at next market open).
📌 Should I always wait until the seasonal window closes?
Not necessarily.
You can exit early based on your risk tolerance, profit goals, or other strategies.
Note: The model does not use stop-losses or profit targets to avoid interfering with long-term performance.
📌 How often does the Stock Grader update?
Weekly on Saturdays.
Watch your inbox on weekends for any changes that could affect your open positions.
📌 Are stop-losses or profit targets recommended?
No.
The system is designed to operate without them. If the fundamentals shift, the grade will reflect it.
You may choose to use your own stops/targets, but this could lead to early exits and reduced performance.
📌 What triggers an exit alert?
Two triggers only:
- The seasonal window ends, or
- The grade drops below B.
❗News events, earnings reports, or volatility do not influence the system’s decisions.
📌 Can I set my own alerts?
Only if you’re a TradeStops subscriber.
Otherwise, you can use free services like Yahoo Finance or alerts from your broker.
📌 Can I enter all trades now instead of waiting?
You can—but it’s not recommended.
The model is built on precise timing, and early entry could mean:
- Entering stocks that don't qualify
- Deviating from the strategy’s tested success rates
✅ For best results, wait for the official entry alert.
