The S&P Sectors tab, located under Markets, provides insight into the S&P sectors.
At the top of this page, you can choose the Display as of date. You can also select to view the results in Tile or List view. For this document, we are going to look at the List view.
Currently, you can analyze the following sectors:
- Communication Services
- Consumer Discretionary
- Consumer Staples
- Energy
- Financials
- Health Care
- Industrials
- Information Technology
- Materials
- Real Estate
- Utilities
This page has a lot of information, so we’ll take it one step at a time.
Navigating the Sector Data (Left to Right)
1️⃣ Expand Components – Click the blue triangle to view the sector's components. This takes you to a pre-filtered Screener—just click "Run Screener."
2️⃣ Sector Details – Click the sector name to see a more detailed breakdown on the Stock Analyzer page.
3️⃣ Health Status – Indicates the sector’s TradeSmith Health Indicator:
- Green = Healthy
- Yellow = Caution
- Red = Stopped out
4️⃣ Health Distribution – Shows the percentage of assets in the Green, Yellow, and Red Zones.
5️⃣ VQ (Volatility Quotient) – Measures the sector's historical volatility and risk.
6️⃣ Price Range – Displays the 52-week price range.
7️⃣ Latest Close – The most recent closing price for the sector.
8️⃣ Daily Gain – Shows the sector’s daily gains or losses.
9️⃣ Latest Price – Provides the most up-to-date sector price.
Click a sector’s name to view more information about it.
In this example, we're analyzing the Health Care sector.
Similar to the Overview, you can see its Health Status, VQ, price range, and Health Distribution. A pie chart visually represents the Health Distribution.
Below the chart, binocular icons in color-coded boxes allow quick filtering. Clicking a box (e.g., Yellow) takes you to the Screener, pre-set to show only Yellow Zone assets in the Health Care sector.
Additionally, you can view a performance chart and its historic Health Distribution.
To explore other sectors, simply scroll up or down.
