The TradeSmith Social Heat Score
Harnessing Consumer Sentiment for Smarter Investing

The Power of Consumer Spending

Consumer spending accounts for nearly 70% of the U.S. economy, making it a crucial driver of economic activity and a key signal for investors. By observing consumer behavior—what they buy, talk about, and recommend—investors can gain a significant edge in predicting which companies and products will thrive.

Discover the TradeSmith Social Heat Score Widget on Your Dashboard

The Social Heat Score widget is your gateway to real-time consumer sentiment insights—right from your Dashboard. Use it to search for any stock ticker and instantly view its bullish or bearish score, powered by cutting-edge analysis of live social media trends.

Looking for market movers? The widget also highlights the top bullish and bearish opportunities, helping you spot where Main Street buzz may soon translate into Wall Street action.

Real-Time Social Media Intelligence

To capitalize on this, the team behind the MegaTrends service taps into real-time social media data from platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Reddit, and Google. This allows them to track how consumers “vote with their wallets” across thousands of brands and companies.

Each social media post is processed by advanced tech that:

  • Captures brand mentions.
  • Cross-references with a database of 11,000+ brands and 425+ companies.
  • Extracts key signals using thousands of predictive keywords.

To understand the Social Heat Score, you first need to understand the basis of our predictive consumer insights machine. It all starts with four primary metrics.

Key Metrics Tracked

Their system evaluates four primary types of consumer engagement:

  1. Brand Mentions (Buzz) 👍
General discussion of any brand, product, or service linked to a tracked company.
  2. Positive Sentiment 💕
Posts that show satisfaction or enthusiasm.
  3. Negative Sentiment 👎
Posts that show dissatisfaction or criticism.
  4. Purchase Intent 💲
Posts where the consumer has bought or plans to buy a product.

Scoring the Four Primary Metrics

When determining if a mention has positive sentiment, negative sentiment, and/or Purchase Intent, we use product categories to limit the applicable words or phrases. For example, “just sat down at” applies well to restaurants but not to cellphones.

What Is the Social Heat Score?

The Social Heat Score is a single, easy-to-understand number (from 0 to 100) that reflects how well a brand, product, or company is resonating with consumers on Main Street—often before traditional Wall Street metrics react.

How It’s Calculated

This score is powered by a proprietary blend of AI and data extraction, which processes:

  • Macro trends
  • Consumer demand signals
  • Social media buzz
  • Sentiment analysis
  • Web traffic
  • Stock performance

All of this is combined to predict future consumer spending behavior and highlight bullish or bearish opportunities for investors—before the market catches on.
