Video #2: How to Research New Potential Trades

Nov. 3, 2025

Hi folks! Marina Stroud here. I am your Senior Product Education Specialist. TradeSmith provides various ways to find new opportunities. In this tour, I will show you how to use our “Search for Ticker” feature to research new potential trades.

Great, let’s head to the website.

You will enter the company name or ticker symbol in the “Search for Ticker” field, on the upper right, and select it from the drop-down menu.

The site will route you to the Asset Details page, where you can research your ticker.

You will see the company name, ticker, its traded exchange, and the latest price with the last price update on the far left.

On the far right, you can adjust the statistic pills you display for any ticker you search. We are displaying industry and one-year change data; however, you can add or adjust this view by clicking the Customize Statistics pill or button below.

Let’s adjust our views together.

Once you click on the Customize Statistics pill or button, you will see a drop-down menu, where you can choose from TradeSmith indicators, Summary, Fundamentals, or Options-related data.

Under TradeSmith Indicators, I can include the Business Quality Score and the stock’s overall rating.

Under Summary, I can also choose to view the sector. Within Fundamentals, you will see numerous fundamental metrics you can incorporate as well. Once I set my preferred statistic pills at the top-right, I can click Save Changes. Now, I can scroll through my statistic pills carousel.

Below, you will notice several tabs of information to help you determine if the security meets your criteria.

The Overview tab provides an overview of your indicators, chart, the ticker’s top peers, statistics, latest research and news, and company profile.

The Indicators tab provides a more detailed view of the indicators available to you based on your subscription. We can view a historical rating for our ticker and a breakdown of the technicals and fundamentals that comprise the overall stock rating.

Stock Rating for ticker MDT as of Nov. 3, 2025.

You will see the ratings speedometer, which rates each stock from strong bearish to strong bullish and assigns it a score from 0 to 100, with 100 being the best.

Under Technicals, the Ratings program looks at our investment strategies and the Relative Strength Index (RSI). Although these strategies are not part of the Ratings subscription, you will still benefit from the ratings element.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is a momentum indicator used in technical analysis that measures the magnitude of recent price changes to evaluate if a security is overbought or oversold.

Under Fundamentals, the Newsletters and BQS are hyperlinked so you can click them to view more details.

Let’s briefly review the other tabs.

The Statistics tab provides numerous general statistics and fundamental data for you to review, including corporate actions and earnings per share.

The Opportunities tab will display your matching newsletters and Billionaires Club for the ticker, if available.

Check out our Financials tab if you cannot get enough of the company’s fundamentals and SEC Filings. You can review fundamental data such as income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and financial ratios.

The Historical Data tab includes one-month, three-month, and one-year historical low and high price data for the asset. You can also review daily, weekly, and monthly historical prices and corporate actions.

Your Chart tab is customizable. The green “Open Chart Settings” tab allows you to enable or disable lines, cycles, and other chart features.

I can also compare my ticker to other tickers. For example, I can compare Medtronic (MDT) to several of its peers, as shown under the Overview tab.

Medtronic’s peers include Danaher (DHR), CVS Health (CVS), and Vertex Pharmaceuticals (VRTX).

Click the Comparison button on the upper left of your chart from the Chart tab, enter the ticker, and select it from the drop-down menu. You can click the Comparison button to enter each additional ticker for comparison.

In our example, CVS has outperformed YTD.

If there are upcoming earnings, you will see this alert message displayed on the page. If you want to add your ticker to a basket watchlist and continue monitoring it, click the Add to Basket button.

Alrighty, folks. That’s a wrap on today’s tour.
