The Screener tool helps you identify new opportunities based on the criteria that are most important to you.

To access the Screener tool, click the Screener tab on your Invest page.

On the Screener tool homepage, you can instantly adjust or add filters by clicking the Add Filter button. Please note that the filters available to you depend on your TradeSmith subscriptions.

Results are displayed once you add your filter preferences and hit the Run Screener button.

The Display & Sort Results menu allows you to adjust how you view your results.

For example, in the above image, the top 100 results will be sorted by market capitalization in descending order. The "Auto-add selected filters as column" toggle automatically shows any filters and sorting criteria you select as column headers in your results.

For example, since I chose "market cap" in my display and sort, the tool will automatically add it as a column header. The same goes for any filters I add to my screener.

However, this setting does not save those columns to your view. If you want them included permanently, you'll need to manually add them and save your view.

After adjusting your filter preferences, hit the Run Screener button to update your results.

Please note that the more filters you include, the more restricted your results will be. It may be best to cast a wider net and narrow it down with one filter at a time, based on your priorities.  

The Screener tool lets you save your filter preferences, so you can run the same scan again.  

To save your screener, hit the Save button and select Save as New: 

In the upper-right corner, you can choose from your saved screeners. 

If you select a saved screener, the filters will be adjusted to reflect the filters used for that screener. You can click on any filter category to view the filters or make any adjustments.

The More Actions drop-down menu allows you to add/edit your screener description, copy the screener's URL (for sharing), run the Pure Quant tool (if available in your subscription), or delete.

Please note that if you are viewing a TradeSmith Screener (prebuilt by TradeSmith), you can ONLY run the Pure Quant Tool.

Let's cover some additional features of the Screener tool.

You can hit the Clear Filters button to start over.

Here's some information about our three key TradeSmith category filters:

The Health Indicator tells you the health of a security based on how its price moves relative to its Volatility Quotient (VQ).

• Green Zone: Healthy and typically trending up (Buy)
• Yellow Zone: In correction, so be cautious (Hold)
• Red Zone: Dropped beyond normal risk levels (Sell)

TradeSmith designed the Health Indicator to adapt to your investing goals. The Long-Term Health Indicator is designed to hold a security for 12 months or longer, whereas the Short-Term Health Indicator is designed to hold a security for less than three months.

The Trend lets you select if you want positions in an uptrend, a downtrend, or a sidetrend.

Next is the Risk (VQ).

The VQ indicates the riskiness of your positions.

• Below 15% is low risk
• 15% – 30% is medium risk
• 30% – 50% is high risk
• Above 50% is sky-high risk

Please note that the Trend and Risk (VQ%) filters ONLY pertain to the Long-Term Health Indicator.

Now, let's review your results.

If you look at our results, you can sort any column alphabetically or numerically. You can grab the horizontal gray bar to scroll to the far right and review additional information.

The beauty of this tool is that you can customize it by adjusting the column headers displayed.    

You can edit the default view by clicking the white edit pencil within the active view or clicking the drop-down triangle to create a new view.  

You will see numerous TradeSmith indicators, as well as general, fundamental, and performance-based metrics that you can check to include in your screener views. Your views will depend on your TradeSmith subscriptions.

The gray boxes are filters you selected when creating your screener; however, they are temporary until you click them to add a green check mark.

The column headers can be rearranged by clicking and holding the column header with your left mouse key and dragging it to its preferred location. Don’t forget to hit the Save button if you make any changes.  

Flexibility is key. You can also print and export your results, giving you complete control over your data.
