My Alerts: Overview

The My Alerts tab allows you to view both open and closed alerts for your signals.

🟢Note: The green dot above the My Alerts tab indicates I have a triggered alert, which has been moved to the Closed Positions tab.

Adding Your Alerts

To add signal alerts, go to either the Top Signals or Today's Signals tabs and click the bell icon to the left of the ticker. A solid green bell indicates that an alert is active.

In the Open Alerts section, you'll see key details such as the ticker, signal outlook, and category—along with important columns: Entry/Exit Rule, Trading Goal, Exit No Later Than, and Signal Entry Price. We also provide helpful context, including the alert's creation date, the ticker's latest closing price, and a Notes column to help you track your alerts.

To add a note, click the "Add Note" link within the Notes column.

You can click the Entry/Exit Rule link to review the corresponding Trading Goal and get more details about the exit rule.

Please note that all alerts are automatically removed 45 days after they are created, regardless of when they close.

Here are a couple of examples:

  • If no exit other than the exit date is triggered:
    • After 21 days, if your alert has not reached its profit target or met another exit condition, you will receive an exit alert on Day 21. The alert will then move to the Closed Alerts tab and remain there for the remaining 24 days before being removed.
  • If an exit is triggered earlier:
    • For example, if your profit target or another exit condition is met on Day 10, the alert will move to the Closed Alerts tab at that time. It will then remain there until Day 45, when it is automatically removed.

In the Closed Alerts section, you’ll see the same key details displayed in the Open Alerts tab, including the Notes column, along with the Exit Triggered column, which indicates whether the target was met.

Managing Trade Exits and Target Prices

After setting your Signals alert and monitoring your position, you may notice that the intraday high price shown in the Trading Goal column under My Alerts is reached before you receive the exit alert email.

Our backtesting assumed that trades would be exited the following morning after receiving the email notification. If an alert is triggered, the notification email will be sent after the market closes that evening.

If you prefer a more conservative approach and do not want to wait for the email alert, you may consider placing a Good ’Til Canceled (GTC) limit sell order at your desired target price. This allows your position to be automatically sold once the target price is reached, helping you lock in gains without waiting for the notification email.

While stop losses were not used during our Signals testing, you still have the option to add one. We provide an Optional Stop Loss, derived from our Volatility Quotient (VQ) and adjusted for the strategy's timeframe and current market conditions.

For example, you can add a 4.8% trailing stop loss for Nebius Group-A (NBIS). Unlike signal alerts—which notify you when an exit rule is met—optional stop-loss alerts can be added separately.

Once the position has been added to your portfolio—either through our portfolio synchronization feature or by manually creating a portfolio—you can add a stop-loss alert from the Position Details page.

Adding the Optional Stop Loss and Time Alerts

To access this page, select your portfolio from the Manage tab on the My Portfolios page.

Then, from the Positions tab, click on the position you want to view.

On the Position Details page, navigate to the Alerts tab and click Add Alert.

From the Alerts menu, select Trailing Stop, then choose Custom Percentage Trailing Stop.

Enter the recommended stop-loss percentage based on the value shown in the Optional Stop Loss column, and click Add Alert to save.

You can also add an alert to notify you after 21 trading days.

From the Alerts menu, select Time, then choose Trading Days After Entry.

“What should I do if I forget to add an alert after placing my trade and can no longer find it in the Top Signals list?”

If you forget to add an alert after placing your trade and can no longer locate it in the Top Signals list, here’s what you can do:

For members who miss adding Signal alerts to their live trades, follow these guidelines. Consider setting a 4% profit target as a general benchmark. For risk management, you may use a stop loss based on 8–10% of the stock’s Volatility Quotient (VQ), depending on your risk tolerance.

Additionally, track the trade for up to 21 trading days. If the profit target has not been reached within that timeframe, be sure to close the position to avoid holding it indefinitely.
