With TradeSmith, you can search for any ticker, analyze key indicators and metrics, and uncover options trades tailored to your bullish or bearish outlook.

Let’s learn how to search for a ticker and find an options trade.

Start by typing in a company’s name or ticker symbol in the “Search for Ticker” feature in the upper right-hand corner. You will also see trending tickers from the menu.

The site routes us to the Asset Details page, where we can analyze the ticker. 

In the upper left, you’ll find the latest price and additional information, including any upcoming earnings.

In the upper right are the Add to Basket and More Actions buttons.

• Add to Basket: allows you to add the ticker to a basket watchlist for continued tracking.
• More Actions: Drop-down menu
• • Add to Portfolio: allows you to add the ticker to a portfolio.
  • Trade Summary: routes you to the Trade Summary page, where you can view the security's indicators and your Checklists.
  • Trade Booster: finds income options trades, like buy/write covered calls and sell puts, according to our strategies.

Note: If you are tracking the ticker you searched for, the positions link will show the number of shares and the name of the corresponding portfolio, and allow you to go to the Position Card page for the holding.

Below, you will see your statistics pills, which you can customize. To customize your views, click the "Customize Statistics" link on the pills carousel or the button below.

You can select from a number of TradeSmith indicators, summary values, fundamentals, and options-related values. 

Below are several tabs of information to help you research your ticker and find options trades.   

• Overview: displays a snapshot of your available indicators, the ticker’s price chart, peers, statistics, latest research and news, and company profile.
• Indicators: provides a more in-depth view of your available TradeSmith indicators (Health, Trend, and Risk (VQ%)
• Chart: displays the price chart with settings, customization features, indicators, and a comparison button that lets you compare up to 4 tickers.
• Statistics: displays general price statistics, fundamental data, corporate actions, and an earnings-per-share graph.
• Opportunities: displays matching newsletters, model portfolios, and billionaires for the ticker.
• Options: provides an options calendar to scroll through expiration dates and strike prices.
• Historical Data: displays the one-month, three-month, and one-year low and high prices, historical prices, corporate actions, and strategy events (when a ticker qualified or no longer qualified for a strategy).
• Financials: includes various income, balance sheet, and cash flow statements, and earnings and revenue history, debt-to-assets, earnings-per-share, and cash flow graphs.

Let’s dive deeper into the Options tab.

The default view is Calendar view; however, you can switch to List or Straddle view.

The Fair Value tool visually displays the latest market price of an option against its data-driven fair value. This highlights when an option becomes statistically cheap or expensive.

From the Calendar view, start by choosing an options strategy (sell put, sell call, buy put, or buy call) in the upper right. You can also specify the Days to Expiration as “less than," “more than,” or “between."

On the far right-hand side, you can adjust the metrics within the tile cards by clicking the Manage Metrics button.

In our sell put example, the max profit, POP, and Probability OTM (out-of-the-money) were selected and can be seen in the tile cards. You can also review various pricing, Greeks, volatility, and volume and flow metrics.

You can then scroll through the various expiration dates and strike prices to find the optimal trade given your selected metrics.

You can click any tile card to display the detailed tile card on the options trade and the underlying asset.

You can scroll through the options tile card to view the options fair value, underlying asset information, the underlying asset price forecast at expiration, the top spread (if available), and key statistics. 

At the bottom of each tile card is a Trade Summary link. 

This link takes you to the Trade Summary page, where you can view trade details, option tile card, the best- and worst-case scenarios, and your checklist results. The Checklist feature helps you follow a systematic plan before entering a trade.

TradeSmith created a standard industry checklist according to essential specifications for your options trades. You can also create your own checklists by clicking on the Add New Checklist link or by going to the Checklists Management page. 

At the bottom left of the Trade Summary page, you can add the options trade to a portfolio or a basket watchlist.

Please note that you cannot manually add a position to an imported brokerage account; however, if you synchronized your portfolios in TradeSmith Finance, any trade you place at your broker will be imported into your portfolio(s).
